Figueira da Foz is an attractive clean and relaxed beach town located on Portugal’s west coast approximately half way between Lisbon and Porto with a huge main beach and several equally attractive beaches both North and South of the town.
There are many café’s, bars, restaurants, open air markets, shops, live entertainments and sports options to enjoy, an active Marina adjacent to the River Mondego near where it reaches the Atlantic Ocean , a Casino (with frequent free shows) , a Bull-ring, Carnaval (at least twice per year) , Europe’s largest beach music festival (July) and a major Arts and Live Theatre Centre with international performers.
Nearby are the major Cultural attractions of Historic University city Coimbra, Fatima, Conimbriga Roman Ruins, several Spa Towns, Major Cave visitor centres and much more.

Being a beach town, there are loads of cafes, bars and restaurants as well as shops and markets to browse around and in summer late into the night in the balmy evenings
Carnaval
Every year in February and August there is a spectacular Brasillian style Carnaval with many floats and exotic costumes on display and the rythms of Samba!
Live Events
Numerous beach events take place from June to September including several live and DJ music events. International Sports events frequently include Beach Rugby 5’s and Football, a Ladies Tennis Championship and Surfing championships
Casino
Figueira boasts one of the largest Casinos in Portugal where as well as Blackjack, Poker, Roulette and Slot Machines and lounge bar with live music there are frequent free large scale performances by Portuguese and international music, dance and vaudeville artists
